(1886- 1914)
He was close to Charles Péguy, Marguerite Audoux, André Gide, André Lhote, Saint-John Perse; he passionately loved Madame Simone, wife of Claude Casimir Périer, son of the former President of the Republic. He was a friend of Jacques Rivière (who created the « Nouvelle revue française » / Gallimard) and his brother in-law.
Henri-Alban Fournier’s father was a school teacher. He was born in La Chapelle-d'Angillon on 30th October 1886 and went to school in Epineuil-le-Fleuriel from 1891 to 1898 and prepared to enter the “Ecole navale” before writing the “Grand Meaulnes”. He died on 22nd September 1914, near Saint-Rémy-la-Calonne (Meuse).
