This area includes 3 natural pieces of land where the humid valleys of Arnon, Barangeon, Cher, Fouzon and Yèvre as well as the Berry canal cross. These natural unities can be associated to different regions and mark their landscapes:
- In the north, the Sologne is composed of ponds and forests.
- The Valley of the Cher in the centre and in the east, where cultivation and enclosed fields, breeding and alluvial forests alternate.
- The « Champagne Berrichonne » covers three quarters of the surface and is composed of hilly landscapes with gentle slopes, on which there are large cultivated, wooded areas, Quinçy and Reuilly vineyards (south and south-east) and few dried grasslands.
In these areas, there are environments with high ecologic potential, unknown wealth.
Among these are:
- natural zones with environmental interest in fauna and flora
- a major registered zone for the conservation of birds in Foëcy.
